I love getting help and also how parents share and help each other too!
Recently I found more and more amazing online resources as I’ve been seeking out more tools in helping my husband and I parent. I’ve been thinking about what I hope to accomplish as a parent.
I’ve become a little obsessed with reading, really. When I was in primary school my sister and I were convinced we could read every book in the school library. I don’t think we came close, but it instilled a love of reading and learning in me. I want this to spill over into my family!
We are simple creatures after all.
It breaks my heart to see children that are not very active, eating poor food choices and missing that beautiful glow of just being a rambunctious kid. That glow you get from climbing trees and digging in the dirt to China (well from Canada we dug to China through the glorious slugs – perhaps from Australia we can dig to Africa!). I think it all starts with us, parents and we need to change our mindset to teach and show our children!
Ok, I’m speaking to women here and we’re talking Kegels.
Whether you’ve had children (big or small) or not, are in super fit shape or not, gravity starts to creep up as we get older and it’s a bitch! Our pelvic floor muscles start to tire fast and we seem to have no control of them whatsoever.
My husband [oh no we’re not married, but it’s easier to call him that – boyfriend sounds hilarious! – for all intensive purposes, he IS my husband] and I have had a will for many years and have ensured it is general enough to stand the test of time and not require constant updating. I CANNOT believe how many people don’t have one and don’t want to talk about it. OMG people!
Life is fast and it’s hard to keep our homes, cars, offices and brains on track with clarity… I’ve found the best therapy is to chip away at finding some order in the chaos and you can even make a bit of extra $$!
I’m a thrower and I can’t really understand hoarders. The idea of hoarding makes me feel claustrophobic – that’s another story.
I recently did a yoga class by my guru yoga teacher and there was magic – there’s usually magic, but this day was different.
I’ve started to pay more attention to older people, they often go unnoticed. I want to make a difference in people's lives, be more aware and put my mobile away more often to be present to what’s happening around me.
I’m currently ‘in flow’.
I’m listening to my intuition and following all the signs that lead me around and things are smooth. It’s so much easier to be in flow than to fight against everything. I haven’t always been in flow.
I’ve been butting heads with my pre-teen lately. I’m trying to figure out why we keep clashing and if I’m really the horrible mean mother he keeps telling me I am.
I was given the most magical book, the Art of Wellbeing, Joyous Living Inspired by Nature. It’s beautiful in its content and gorgeous drawn images that show an author who has time.
I think we all dream of having more time.
Looking back on my life, it’s amazing to see that I’ve always been the same. I’ve grown and had different interests, but the person I am inside is the same.
The little girl in me is there. I’ve even named her Sally and she loves to do cartwheels (that is perhaps another story!).
