You Can Make Small Changes...

There's so much noise all around us. We always have room for improvement and our inner voice keeps nudging us to do more, be more, take up more space and really make a difference. Well that's what my inner voice says and it rarely gives me much peace. I also know that it pushes me to find ways to improve and do better. I'm always looking for ways I can tweak things and pivot in another direction, even if it seems small... I know in the long run it's often the small things we do consistently that are manageable and not so hard we stop doing them so continue on this new path to act smarter and consciously.

I'm so aware of our planet and the changes we need to make on a big and small scale and it's really coming to a head. Well obviously at Fridge-to-go we're all about sustainability, reusing as much as we can and trying to make smart and smarter decisions. One such thing I've been thinking of is an alternative to my Nespresso pods. I've tried recycling them, but the Nespresso pop up stores keep moving whenever I return, so this gets frustrating. Plus recycling is ok, but using compostable pods is even better. I love how there is often a new question and answer, you just have to be open to it. So now I'm using compostable coffee pods from Urban Brew and as a coffee snob (I go to my happy place with every sip!) it tastes pretty darn good. It's ethically sourced and now I throw them in my compost and don't feel bad when I throw them away.

As a family we're trying to reduce our waste and I find it starts the ball rolling to see how we can keep doing better. We reuse our bread bags with our local fruit and veg box we get weekly for small items that need a container ie grapes and beans (Box Divvy). This service is great as you need to place an order weekly so you get what you need and learn to use seasonable produce that actually lasts longer than the alternative.

I am aware of being a role model to my kids as they stopped listening to me (teenagers!) a while back, but I know they see what I do. What's the saying, 'Tell me, and I forget, teach me, and I may remember, involve me, and I learn.'

Let's share our tips to keep helping each other push the envelope and get out of or comfort zones. It feels good to rethink how we do things... please share what you do. x
