All Those Take-Away Containers...
We are drowning in plastic take-away containers. I love having a break from cooking and getting our favourite local Nepalese cuisine, but it pains me to see all the plastic containers that are used once and discarded. As I don't want to abandon take-away entirely (although home cooked is often so much tastier!), there has to be a better way.
Last week as dinner time approached after a long week, the idea of yummy Nepalese food danced in my head (and no planning dinner!) - coconut rice, momo dumplings, handmade pulled noodles with vegetables... delicious and comforting! I realised that I had many take-away containers already as I always save them to reuse them where possible. I rang my order in and asked if it was ok to bring my own containers for them to fill up. 'Of course' was the reply! I packed my trusty MF24 Carry All with the empty containers and headed out. I love finding new uses for my favourite Fridgetogo bag beyond the obvious beach and picnics.
Ideally, I'll get my favourite local to swap out these plastic containers for sustainable options and I'm working on this. Better yet, we can bring our own Tupperware and reusable containers to do away with this plastic waste forever. It just takes one person, one act, one step... to make a difference. Go on, take a step. Cheers...
