Before you open your eyes... Do this!
Some of you may know that for my 50th birthday last year I got a meditation course for myself and my partner to participate in - he couldn't say he didn't want to join me that way, sneaky huh!? I've been meditating on and off since and keep working on finetuning my process along with reflection to see where I'm at. I was sent this practice by the same meditation teachers (@The Sattva Life - thank you!) that has totally hit me square between the eyes!!
Do try this at home... as soon as you are conscious, awake and aware, but BEFORE you open your eyes and do anything...
PRACTICE
4 Questions to ask yourself every morning
before opening your eyes
1. Who am I?
2. What do I want?
3. What is my purpose?
4. What am I grateful for?
& the window to a greater reality will start to open...
I've been trying this and it's mindblowing. It makes me think and get super deep although honestly, I keep forgetting the 4 questions!? But even that doesn't matter, just like there's no right or wrong way to meditate, there just is... you just have to have a go!
[Did I mention my recall for numbers of more than 3 suggest there could be some block in there or perhaps as most mums I know, my brain is FULL and thus limited in shoving even more valuable morsals in there!]
So I've been trying to dig into these questions even more - of course it's totally subjective - remember there's no right or wrong answers and it makes you think. About yourself and your perspective and what it all means. Why the hell are we (YOU!) here? It reminds me a bit of the exercise where you write your obituary and think about what people will say about you. What do you stand for? What excites you and gets you emotional? What really matters and when will you stop to reflect and actually dive into that new path that you keep dreaming and wondering about?
Which brings me to my purpose - to connect like-minded people and help them sit in the discomfort even when it becomes unbearable because that's where the magic is. That is perhaps another story, but it brings me to another magical ingredient we humans have... gratitude. If you're thinking of others and all the amazing things you have to be grateful for, your ability to worry and stress is reduced significantly... Who couldn't use more of that!
Try it tomorrow and see what you come up with!
